AIRMAIL 3.3.081 + KANTRONICS KPC3+
In our testing the Airmail TX Level that controls the deviation is set extremely high for most radios Kenwood, Icom, Yaesu, Morotoa, TAD etc.
It can adverly affect performace throughput
How to setup the Packet Client "TX AUDIO LEVEL" in Airmail 3.3.081 using a KPC3+
Note: It is important that the TNC and Radio once setup stay together.
============================================================================================================================================
Test equipment requied - Having the ability to check "Deviation"
In Airmail go to the the Dumb Termial mode using the correct port configuration
At the command prompt type CAL and hit enter
This will put you in the calibration mode
Enter the T and press the - to decrease deviationand + to increase the deveation
Once you achived the desired deviation (2.5 to 3.0 khz) then type XMITL and write down the number.
The XMITL and the TXLEVEL are not the same you will have to adjust the TX LEVEL to match the XMITL
You will have to adjust the TX level in the Airmail.ini file to match the XMITL in the Dumb Termial.
The TX AUDIO LEVEL can not be changed in the menu of Airmail.
This is how you change the level in the Airmail.ini file
You may have to do this process several times
Open the Airmail.ini file

Change the value and save it.

Now open the packet client this will load the new setting into the TNC
Not: it should take a sec to initialize if not try to restart

Now you can check the setup level in the Packet setup

Note: The TX Audio Level is grayed out and should match the number you set it to.
